Logo Process: Filter Brothers

My long time buddy is on his way back to Austin for one of his entrepruneur ventures here in a few weeks and came to me to create a logo for him for his company, Filter Brothers, a pool filter service that cleans and restores filters in personal in-ground pools.  I had one of my business cards around and he thought something like what I had done for my fictitious company "Wagon Design" would be kind of cool.  Less talking and more showing.  Long story short he digs the logo and will be heading down to Austin with a stack of business cards and a pricing sheet to get him started.

PacMan's Long Lost Brother

So it's Friday at the office, a bit rainy from a hurricane down south and nothing to pressing at work.  I started out with the word echo and this is what came from it.  So here it is... the evolution of a random logo.

Log Cabin Senior Project

Log Cabin has been coming along quite well... I've created a t-shirt design, a website incorporating a social media site within LogCabin called "CampFire" where all Log Cabin's community can come together create forums, and talk amongst each other creating connections and "talking shop" about either tutorials the site provides or what is happening in design/web at the time.  It's been fun and wish I could put every second of my day into it, but with life, school, and work, Log Cabin ends up getting about 40 percent of my time.  Not bad but I see where extra time is needed.  All good though I really am liking the look and feel of it.  This is where I am with "2 months" aka 50 hours into the machine.  Probably have another 30 hours to go.  In the real world that is a mere 2 week project :) haha

Here it is pretty rough still but will update when I finish.  Enjoy my little hackers ;)

JCP new logo #cheap

AMRRCA! ha Check out JCP next rendition of their logo....goes pretty well with their new motto of no more coupons just everyday savings...sound familiar...*coughWALMART*cough.... Well if anything shows proof that not only their clothes are cheaper it's their logo.  I could see how this would work for awhile but in the long run I could see this becoming the "Walmart" of clothing stores, leading to vendors leaving due to the cheap reputation.  Hmm what do I know though..  This logo looks like retail trying to meet the core of America...cheap? The amount of dead space is redunk,  whats more important jcp or the Tetris piece that takes up 3/4 of the real estate...Time will tell if they meet in the middle to join hands in holy matrimony.

jcp attempt at new branding to match their new low prices.

Lobster may becoming overpopulated...

This font called "Lobster" is showing up everywhere, nothing new though any font that is free and decent is going to get abused. Plus this font is available as a webfont in google so its gone with no return  When I first saw this font i thought "hey well thats a fun vintage modern font" with its bubbly rounded corners and cursive features who wouldn't want to use this font for their 1950's high school reunion...right? They have used this in a lot of places but just today I saw it in a Bath and Body works and a Hispanic magazine... I seem to have absolutely no idea what to think of this font any more.  And speaking of god awful trendy fonts lets not forget Bleeding cowboy...just saw it today on a tattoo magazine...sweet. anyways what do you guys think is it being used properly?

oh wow...i was just looking for a way to integrate Googles web-fonts in my blogger and the first site I click on has Lobster as the first image I see...gah.

Hispanics in America can be happy and bubbly I presume.

Being new can be fun. evidentially has no genre.

oh look in purple.

Most creative thing I've seen all year.

not sure what that says but it must be happy.
